Why did you decide to study abroad?
I decided to study abroad at an early age. The fact that my father did all his studies in a foreign country, plus all of the life-building experiences he had, all made me imagine my own opportunities in the nearby future. Furthermore, throughout all my school years, I attended a Greek French school, and there I was highly encouraged to go and study abroad – especially in France or a French-speaking country.
What made you decide on this university?
I decided on the Aix Marseille University based upon its well-structured degree programmes. My academic courses have a great variety; and, so, the education I receive is both global and career-building. The faculty that I am a part of is small in size, offering the rare opportunity to study in a friendly, family-like environment where all the students know each other and the professors understand directly the needs of their student audiences. At the end of each academic year, students also have the chance to enrol in an internship from the very first year until the final one. This opportunity made the decision process a lot easier for me. I knew it was the right university for me from first glance.
How is your experience of studying abroad?
My experience of studying abroad has been and is one of the best decisions I ever made. At first, I was a little bit scared to leave everything behind me – my familly, my friends, the places I grew up – and to start living my own life without the emotional support of my close friends, of course; but I did make the next step and I highly encourage everybody to do so. Life in Southern France is unique. Of course, there is no huge difference from the life I had in Greece, due to the similar climate, the food, the mentality of people, and the way of life. France is a global student destination; but sometimes it is for the best to know and understand the language, as English-speakers are not so prevalent in the region. Nevertheless, life is just great here, and seems to be almost built from a fairytale. All obstacles and difficulties in life exist for a reason; everybody should dare to make the next step and live their dreams.
Why do you think others should not miss out on studying at your university
I think others should not miss the opportunity of being a student at the Aix Marseille University because it is a university that has everything. It has many different structures and all the possible studies to pursue. It is after all the biggest university in France. It is an up-to-date educational institution that also has the wisdom of the past. There are many international students enrolled in programmes on every one of its five campuses in three different cities of the Provence region (Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Arles). It is a dream-like university for me that integrated me quickly and made me feel like I belong here. If France is your student country destination, then this university should be on the top of your list.
