Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium
Country of origin: Belgium
Study course: Master in Business Engineering
Why did you decide to study abroad?
I was born in Belgium however, at the age of one, I moved to Malta where I grew up. With the next step being university, I decided to try out something new and so decided to study at the VUB in Brussels. At university level this was much easier to do since secondary school qualifications between Malta and Belgium are standardised, allowing me to apply at the VUB without too much hassle. While living and studying in Belgium is something completely different to what I was used to, the fact that I already had some connections with Belgium made the adjustment easier to go through.
What made you decide on this university?
I chose this university for its good reputation in relation to my course and for its location.
How is your experience of studying abroad?
I learn something new about Belgium and its culture each day. It is an enriching experience which does require some adjustment, however even attending a university in your own country is a big change, so why not go a step further?
Why do you think others should not miss out on studying at your university
VUB is very international and offers many student services on campus, making it the ideal place for different cultures to come together.
