Ole Henrik Flekstad Vik
EAE Business School, Barcelona, Spain
Country of origin: Norway
Study course: International MBA
Why did you decide to study abroad?
I love to travel and experience new cultures. I have previously been a remote student in Zimbabwe, working as a sport volunteer, while also studying Sport, Culture and Development. It was an amazing experience, completely different from the predictable everyday life as a student in my home country. When I returned to Norway I realized that I had changed and developed a lot. Living abroad is a good way to widen your perspectives and make your thinking more flexible and open. It was obvious to me that I had to do my Master’s degree in another country.
What made you decide on this university?
EAE Business School has a good reputation, both in Spain and Europe. A lot of the students find interesting career opportunities after finishing their Master’s degrees. What was most important to me was the location. Barcelona is an amazing city to live in. It is very international, and the student environment is great. I had already been learning Spanish before applying, and wanted an opportunity to practice the language every day.
How is your experience of studying abroad?
My experience has been amazing. In my class there are 20 + different nationalities represented. Getting to spend time with people from vastly different cultures every day is like doing ten years of travelling in one year. The professors are engaging and professional, and my learning curve has been very steep. Barcelona has certainly lived up to my expectations. There is always something happening, and the climate is great.
Why do you think others should not miss out on studying at your university
Barcelona is a great city for students. The school is very international. The classes have students and professors from many different countries. The professors are experts in their fields, and most of them combine teaching with professional careers in private companies. The department of career services is doing a lot to facilitate job and internship opportunities during and after the studies.
