Why did you decide to study abroad?
“To experience it!” Sounds silly but true. I decided to continue my studies abroad to live and experience a life out of my comfort zone, far away from my native country. Then, there was the motivation of keeping pace with the ever-changing IT field. My aim was to gain a sound knowledge of my field to be well versed and proficient enough to grab better opportunities. In short, I wanted to learn and explore at the same time. Last but not the least, I knew that studying abroad gives a chance to interact with scholars from different professional and cultural backgrounds which will help me for integration of different ideas and to expand my thinking horizons.
What made you decide on this university?
I found Estonia as perhaps the most electronically smart country in the world. The University of Tartu (UT), is recognised as one of the most prestigious and biggest universities in Estonia, established in 1632. UT is among the world’s top research institutions in several fields and is the pivot for high-level research projects. Also, I found the course structure of Master’s in Computer Science with Data Mining specialization quite compelling and very well aligned with my professional aspiration. It offers a modern study environment in a comfortable atmosphere. Innovations are encouraged and supported as ample opportunities exist to become involved in active research programs, both experimental and theoretical. As Estonia is considered to be a land of startups, it’s a great place to be for programmers. The faculty is excellent, very cooperative and helping.
How is your experience of studying abroad?
Awesome! I feel studying abroad is one of the best decisions I made. It’s an exciting but challenging journey. Initially, no doubt, I had issues to adjusting with the academics, weather and the cultural differences but time heals everything. And it did, I enjoy being a student in a foreign country. I wake up excited every day and try my best to learn something new each day. More importantly, apart from the data science studies, I inculcated life values to be more helping and accommodating, embracing the cultural differences and respecting others and above everything else, always keep-trying-harder and a never-let-go attitude.
Why do you think others should not miss out on studying at your university

You know that you are surrounded by like-minded students and guided by renowned professors. The teaching staff is excellent and easy to approach for even the silliest of doubts. UT serves as the incubator for many high-level research projects as well as entrepreneurial projects and startups. And, though Estonia is considered as a beautiful small country, yet is often described as one of the most internet-focused countries in Europe, bringing digitalization in a day to day lives. So, all in all, it’s a pretty good deal.
